SHREWTON United tasted defeat for only the second time this season when going down by the odd goal in five at home to Corsham Town Reserves. Th Shrews, midweek winners against Pewsey Vale in the Salisbury Hospital Cup, slip to fifth in the table, three points adrift of leaders Cricklade Town. Next up is the visit of Calne-based Beversbrook next Saturday (October 1).

DOWNTON FC enjoyed a welcome 4-1 win at Andover New Street, halting a run of five league and cup games without one. On target for the Robins were Shaun Prentice, Mark Gulliver, Ben Smith and Declan McGregor. Downton stay sixth in the Division One table, despite the three-point haul. They can climb to fifth in midweek with a win at AFC Stoneham. (Tuesday, 7.45pm).

LAVERSTOCK & Ford returned to winning ways on Saturday with a 2-1 victory away at early-season strugglers Pewsey Vale. Adam Jones and Tom Mundy were on target to ensure 'Stock left Ball Road with all three points. 'Stock remain second in the Division One table, level on points with Baffins Milton Rovers, but with a superior goal difference. Pewsey, with just one win in ten outings, are 19th.

AMESBURY Town and Bemerton Heath Harlequins are both through to the first round proper of the FA Vase after comfortable victories this afternoon. Harlequins were 3-0 victors at home to Toolstation Western League side Longwell Green Sports, while the Blues were in impressive form away at Whitchurch United, putting six goals past the hosts without reply - three in each half. On target for Town were Dave Parry (2), Luke Walker, Ben Cook, Craig Wheeler and Grant Powell As well as lining up in Monday's first round draw, the two clubs also bank £800 from the competition's prize fund.
