AFTER last weekend's washout, champions South Wilts return to Southern Premier League action today with a trip to Lymington. The Lower Bemerton side are one of just four clubs to have won twice so far this term, while today's hosts beat near-neighbours New Milton by 25 runs after opening the campaign with a defeat at Bashley (Rydal). This afternoon's 50-over contest is scheduled to start at 1pm.

AT the international Riga marathon in Latvia, City of Salisbury's Will Watson clocked a creditable 3:13 hours to finish well up the field of 1,700 in his first attempt at the distance. Closer to home, Lizzie Guasch, Jay Friedlander, Sue Howland, Andy Robbins, Jackie Chlebowski and Kathryn Dreyer put up good performances in the night and day quarter marathons at the Larmer Tree. In the half-marathon at the same venue, Reece Ingram clocked 2:01.00, with Melenie and Craig Murphy running together for 2:27.58. Charlotte Boardman went the full 26-mile distance in 5:15.   Report by John Ruskin

AMESBURY Cricket Club were comfortable winners of their opening Salisbury T20 match. Batting first at Archers Gate against RHA Tidworth, they posted 130-8. Amesbury then bowled out the visitors for just 80 - skipper Sumith Surendran took 2-4, while Joe Cornelius' 3-7 included a hat-trick.
