SALISBURY City has boosted its attacking options by completing the signing of Torquay United forward Ben Joyce. The 20-year-old striker (pictured) quickly made his mark in City’s pre-season build-up, scoring four times in their 7-0 friendly win at Hamworthy United. Born on September 9, 1989 in Plymouth, Joyce was on the books of Aston Villa, Plymouth Argyle and Boston United before joining Swindon Town, for whom he scored on his league debut (four appearances, one goal). He then joined Torquay United (July 2009) and had loan spells with Forest Green Rovers and Weston-super-Mare. Mikey Harris, who along with skipper Darrell Clarke is in temporary charge of first team affairs, said the club is delighted to have secured the services of the young striker. “Ben has been very impressive since he came to us. He’s sharp and, as we saw at Hamworthy, knows where the net is. “He’s still only 20 but he’s got plenty of experience.” Joyce becomes the fifth new signing by the club this summer after Chris Giles, Ryan Pryce, Dan Sheehan and Ryan Brett.
