SALISBURY City’s board of directors has confirmed that after a review of all budgets, the club’s first team is to continue to operate on a full-time basis, despite being demoted from the top tier of non-league football two divisions to the Zamaretto Southern League Premier Division.

In a statement on the club's official website, the board said: "After careful consideration, it has been agreed not to make any cuts to the playing budget."

Today's board meeting was described as 'detailed' and the club also confirmed it had received an excellent response to its recent advertisement for a first team manager following the recent departure of Tommy Widdrington to Southend United.

Interviews with candidates for the post are to be held next week.

The board added that they were very much looking forward to welcoming their former manager back to the Ray Mac for this evening’s friendly with his new club Southend United.

Darrell Clarke and Mikey Harris, who are currently in charge of first team affairs, have named a 19-man squad for the game which kicks off at 7.30pm.
