SALISBURY eventer Louisa Lockwood has had a busy two weeks competing in Norfolk and Yorkshire.

The Winterbourne Stoke rider contested the Houghton CCI2** three-day event in Norfolk and just 36 hours later headed north to take part in the Bramham CCI3***.

Louisa rode Acheron into seventh place at Houghton after the ten-year-old gelding successfully completed the three days of competition.

Following a dressage score of 49.8, he jumped faultlessly over the cross-country course to finish within the optimum time, and then came out on the final day to show jump clear to delight both Louisa and his owner Peter Urquhart.

The 31-year-old Louisa then headed to Yorkshire with 11-year-old mare The Diva, who was one of the first horses to compete and finished the two days of dressage in 14th place with a score of 53.3.

Ian Stark's cross-country course was big, bold and technical and considered well up to optimum size.

The Diva jumped superbly, but slipped as Louisa turned her into the approach of the second of the double of corners, leaving no time to re-adjust before the massive fence ahead leading to them picking up 20 penalties.

The pair completed with only ten time faults and The Diva went on to jump an excellent clear Show Jumping round on the final day to move back up to 20th place - well into the top half of the field, much to the delight of her band of five supportive owners.

Louisa said: "She tried so hard in the cross-country and it was so frustrating she slipped as she did nothing wrong and could so easily have finished within the top five. But she has come home fit and well and proved she is well up to this level.”

Both horses now have a short rest from competition while Louisa takes some of her younger horses to Berkshire College this weekend and then to Longleat the following week.
