The victory means Salisbury finish in third place with local rivals Riverside fourth. Salisbury’s men meanwhile, commenced their summer Inter Club Over 35s campaign with an away match at the Hampshire Club. The club’s indoor carpet courts made the contest closer than previous matches between the two clubs. Both Salisbury pairs – Lee Mahony and Roger Witt, and Tim Gadenne and Matt O’Sullivan – each won and lost a match. However, Tim and Matt gained the crucial set in their loss giving Salisbury a 5-4 set win. They now face North London opposition in the next round - either Cumberland or Lowlands. Players still have time to enter Sunday’s Sarum League Mixed Doubles tournament to be held at Salisbury Tennis Club on April 18. Contact Roger on 01722 505665 for more details.
