YOUNG tennis players from across the country descended on Salisbury Tennis Club for its Junior Open Rankings Tournament, its first Grade three event.

More than 150 juniors competed, displaying a lot of great tennis with five of the highest ranked players winning their respective age groups.

Only the boys and girls' 18 and under finals produced one-sided matches, all the others were close, hard fought contests with most results in doubt until the final points.

Unfortunately rain meant many matches were reduced to short sets, however all the players continued to play good tennis through the many showers on days two and four.

The Salisbury club's new clubhouse was fully utilised all week with players and spectators able to recover and watch the ongoing matches in comfort.
